Manchester United plan to bolster their midfield by splashing out £15million on PSV Eindhoven’s Kevin Strootman.
Continuing concerns over Darren Fletcher’s health have Ferguson pondering a swoop on the defensive midfielder.
The Dutchman has been dubbed ‘the new Roy Keane’ having established himself as a key player for both club and country.
Strootman has been made captain of the Dutch giants and has kept Manchester City’s Nigel de Jong out of the national team.
United have had considerable success when buying from PSV in the past with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Japp Stam flourishing at Old Trafford.
