David De Gea – 9.5 Star Man
He certainly proved his worth with a brilliant outing for United. Made a host of wonderful saves to deny Liverpool. His wonderful point blank save to deny Kuyt and a save at full stretch to deny Charlie Adam were simply world class.
Chris Smalling – 6.5
The England international is quickly developing as a right-back and was once again very impressive. His defending was strong and it was presence that kept downing quite for most of the game.
Rio Ferdinand – 8
Had a fantastic game and was at the back of Suarez throughout the game. The only blip came when his foul on Adam resulted in Liverpool’s opening goal. This performance certainly showed he is far from being finished.
Johny Evans – 6
Combined well with Ferdinand to nullify the threat provided by Suarez and Gerrard. Was lucky not to concede a penalty through a hand ball.
Evra – 6.5
Used all his experience to deal with marauding runs by Gerrard and Kuyt on the left. Had a wonderful cross to his name which could have resulted in a goal for United.
Park Ji Sung – 6.5
It was overall a good performance from the Korean, made some vital tackles in the first half. He cut a lone figure while going forward.
Phil Jones – 7
Shifted to the defensive midfield position, he certainly showed his versatility while defending and going forward. United certainly looked more compact and at ease with his presence in front of the defence.
Darren Fletcher – 7
Did a fine job to hold the possession and kept things tickling in the center of the park. Did well to keep Gerrard and Lucas at bay throughout the match.
Ashley Young – 5
It was certainly his worst game for United by the standards he has set with his flying start to the season.
Offered little while going forward and was culprit for losing the possession a lot of times.
Ryan Giggs – 5.5
His trickery was at full flow throughout the match but didn’t do enough to find the final ball.
Was totally the one to blame for Liverpool’s goal.
Danny Welbeck – 6
Did well to link up with the midfield to get the ball rolling but lacked service and support throughout the game.
Wayne Rooney – 7
Came on for Park in the 69th minute. Defended pretty well when Liverpool were on the charge in the later stages of the match.
Nani – 6
Came on for Ashley young in the 69th minute. Didn’t have many opportunities with Liverpool on the attack at the later stages. Scuffed up a tame shot, the only time he found some space to work up his magic.
Chicharito – 7
Came on for Phil Jones in the 76th minute. The only time he had his head towards the goal, resulted in the equalizing goal for United. He is surely a top class finisher.Tweet
